| For Immediate Release Equipment World posts market share gains Construction industry's leading magazine enjoys more than 45 percent market share Tuscaloosa, Ala. (January 20, 2002) – Randall Publishing's Equipment World magazine increased its market share by 3 percent from 2000 to 2001, biting off a 45.3-percent-sized piece of the construction industry advertising pie. Its closest competitor, Construction Equipment, remained at a flat 37.7 percent over the same period. Equipment Today came in third at 17 percent, down from 20 percent in 2000. Equipment World was able to make these gains despite a 237-page drop in advertising for all three magazines over the same period. "The fact that Equipment World continues to gain market share in a down market clearly shows that the industry recognizes the quality of the product we're delivering - and chooses to support it," says Dan Tidwell, Equipment World publisher. Continuous improvements will help maintain Equipment World's competitive edge, Tidwell says. He points to the decision to incorporate sister publication RentSmart, as one example. "The Equipment World-Rent Smart partnership gives contractors one source for information to help them manage the life cycle of their equipment, while ensuring our customers maximize their advertising dollars," Tidwell says.
